Rachel Williams, Gabriela Mancini, Naya Ng, and Mia Lepage are here to offer their bold and unapologetic opinions on all the sizzling topics and events around town. They kick off the show in style by sharing exciting details of their summer adventures and spilling the tea on their “situationships.” The ladies also take on a game called “Kiss, Marry, Jail” with a unique celebrity twist. Temple Tonight Returns

Temple Tonight is TUTV’s first late-night talk show, featuring a house band, stand-up comedy, interviews, musical performances, and more!

Join host Madeline Gillespie on this episode of Temple Tonight for an unforgettable night of entertainment. The talented cast of Temple Tonight will keep you entertained with their quirky skits and memorable moments. Later in the show, special guest performer Charli Dahni takes the stage for a must-see performance. Charli Dahni is a talented artist with a diverse background in R&B, Jazz, Neo soul, and Gospel. While pursuing a Media Studies and Production degree at Temple University’s Klein College, she continues to hone her craft as a classically trained vocalist and songwriter. Impressive enough, she also takes on the role of her own audio engineer.

Haunting Halloween Lineup

 

BIGFOOTTUTV will showcase classic horror movies and paranormal ghost adventures this Tuesday in honor of Halloween. The afternoon will kick off with host Nick the Beat, a beatnik ghost who died while studying at Temple University in the 1960s, presenting Horror Hotel-City Of The Dead (1960), The Bat (1959), and A Bucket Of Blood (1959). Who is “The Heart Of Temple?”

Is there someone within the Temple community you think deserves recognition? If so, nominate them! Temple University Television (TUTV) is organizing a new contest called “The Heart of Temple,” and we want to hear from you. From now until November 8, students can submit their entries via Instagram (@temple_tv) by filling out the Google form that can be found on the TUTV account’s bio. In their submissions, students are asked to identify a special person who they believe represents the heart of Temple University.

To participate in the nomination process, all individuals must be enrolled as students at Temple University and follow TUTV on Instagram (@temple_tv). Participants must submit a photograph of their favorite Temple figure and a paragraph explaining why they believe this person deserves the nomination. This contest aims to acknowledge and appreciate the people who make Temple University a great school. The nominee could be anyone from a professor to a resident assistant or a favorite security guard. The possibilities are endless.

 

 

The Vibe Returns

The Vibe Episode 30A

Created by journalism student Nydja Hood, The Vibe is Temple University’s first hip-hop culture and music television show, providing a platform for artists at Temple and beyond. On The Vibe, students discuss what is trending in popular culture and feature rappers, poets, singers, and more.

On this special episode of The Vibe, hosts Jocelyn Hockaday, Bruce Claxton, and Lauren Jackson dig deep and explore how every song, every lyric, and every artist has a story. They attend Temple University’s Black Student Union’s Open Mic Night, where Black Artists from all backgrounds showcase their talent. The event features a variety of performances by Cal Nubian, Antony Dean, Joshua Peeler, and Donovan Fields. Later, the hosts provide a “Hip-Hop History Rundown” and give valuable insights into the genre’s evolution. Correspondent Lauren Jackson also interviews singer-songwriter Nahsir Griffen, who performs his latest single, “Runaway.” From beginning to end, this jam-packed episode is full of pure vibes.

OSU 2023 NATAS

The 41st Annual Mid-Atlantic NATAS Awards was presented on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square in Lancaster, P.A.  Of the thirteen nominations, TUTV received two.  The cast and crew from OwlSports Update took home the award for Best College Student Production Long Form, and student-producers from The Temp got Best College Production for Sports Story or Segment.

Temple People Returns

TEMPLE PEOPLE GARY SHEPHERD

Temple People highlights the innovative and dynamic professionals helping shape new and ground-breaking pathways to the future. On this episode of Temple People, host Chelsea Scruggs sits down with media specialist and community leader Gary Shepherd. Gary has over fifty years of media broadcast experience in Philadelphia. He was a radio personality for WDAS 105.3 and launched “Third Floor Media,” a full-service boutique marketing agency.

Gary Shepherd was born in Detroit, Michigan, and grew up in the suburb of Inkster. He has a wealth of experience in radio and television. Shepherd has worked for radio stations in Detroit and Kalamazoo, Michigan; Tampa, Florida; Camden, New Jersey; and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as a morning and afternoon drive personality, a newsman, a News Director, a Music Director, and a Program Director. He has hosted and participated in numerous television fundraisers and specials.

Gary’s on-air work has been awarded the Hal Jackson Contributor’s Award as “Broadcaster of the Year” from the International Association of African American Music. He has received numerous awards and recognitions in the industry and the community, which include being a finalist in the Best PM Drive Talent/Show category from the Philadelphia Achievement in Radio Awards, the “From Whence We Came Award” from Allstate Insurance Company, and a nomination as Urban AC Personality/Show of the Year from Radio and Records, one of the leading trade publications of the broadcast and record industry.

The Political Exchange With Amanda Smith reflects a tone, a space for discourse, research, discussion, and, most importantly, the exchange of ideas. Amanda will be accompanied by experts in media, law, research, the press, and more. The Political Exchange is not about polarization, right or left. On the contrary, this program highlights perspectives, interpretations, and dialogues by experts and ordinary people alike on the state of our nation and the world.

In this pilot episode, Amanda interviews Temple University political science professor Robin Kolodny and award-winning journalist Larry Kane to discuss Age and Ageism in American  Politics. Later, she gathers opinions from students, faculty, and staff on campus.

On Tuesday, November 7th, Philadelphia will elect a new mayor. To assist the Hispanic community in understanding how to use Mail-In ballots to vote, a Klein College class led by Professor Lauren Kogen collaborated with CEIBA, a coalition of local Latino Community groups, to create a Public Service Announcement.
A team of student workers from TUTV/Temple, led by the station’s general manager Paul Gluck and TUTV staff producer Chelsea Scruggs, filmed this important content in both Spanish and English versions on-site in Philadelphia’s Fishtown neighborhood.
The stellar cast consisted of three students from Temple Theater who are studying under the legendary Professor Kimmika Williams-Witherspoon.

Highlights of this episode include an interview with the star of “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody” Adrian R’Mante, the crew dishes about Valentine & Galentines Day, a visit with  Diamond Dogs, and Kat Oleary brings you up to speed on the Winter 2023 entertainment in “Kats Corner,” and much more.

In Performance on TUTV  features live studio performances in the TUTV studios, highlighting local artists with a Temple connection.

In this episode of In Performance on TUTV, host Maggie Fitzgerald welcomes singer/songwriter Charli Dahni to the stage.

Charli Dahni is a talented artist with a diverse background in R&B, Jazz, Neo soul, and Gospel. While pursuing a Media Studies and Production degree at Temple University’s Klein College, she continues to hone her craft as a classically trained vocalist and songwriter. Impressive enough, she also takes on the role of her own audio engineer.

Her passion for classical music led her to The Duke Ellington School of The Arts High School, where she studied vocal performance. From there, she has been performing around the DC area, collaborating with audio engineers based in Philadelphia, and most recently signed with Temple University’s record label, Bell Tower Music.

Watch  Charli perform her single “Bad Boy” and later give us a glimpse into her future work with a live performance of her unreleased single “You Can’t Stop The Fire.”

Temple Smash is Temple University’s first and only televised variety show, produced for students by students. Taped in front of a live studio audience in TV Studio 1 of Annenberg Hall at Klein College, the show features an array of talented acts, including original sketch comedy, musical groups, dancers, stand-up comics, short films, and more.

On the semester premiere of Temple Smash, the crew delivers yet another highly amusing show filled with over-the-top skits and segments. From a strip-tease murder mystery to a deadly literal bartender, this episode has it all! Included in this episode are “Bachelorette Party,” Banana Split,” Charades,” Cheers,” Science Fair,” Mandy,” and much more!
