Documentary by Temple alum tells story of Little Italy in LA

Processions of Faith

By following the festivities and functions of St. Peter’s Italian Catholic Church, Temple alum and former Head Writer for the Tonight Show Joe Medeiros traces the journey of Italians in Los Angeles from their origins up to today in his documentary film Processions of Faith.

Italians immigrated from Italy bringing their faith and traditions and settled in an area of downtown LA in what became the city’s Little Italy. In 1904, the Parish of St. Peter’s was erected to help he community honor the saints they brought with them from the hilltop towns and villages of their native home. Today, all that remains of Los Angeles’ Little Italy is the Church, but the tradition continues as Italians and Italian-Americans from all over Southern California flock to this historic church to profess their faith, share their food and culture, and venerate their saints.

Watch this moving story on TUTV (Comcast 50/Verizon 45 or online) on Wednesday, December 26 at 2 and 10 p.m.
