In a new episode of The Temple Experience, Media Studies and Production students chat about their time at Temple, including the recent online semester, on Zoom. Topics covered during the program include their life during quarantine, their experience taking classes online, the tremendous support they’ve received from Temple’s faculty and staff, their hopes for the future, and messages of encouragement for high school seniors and future Owls.

TUTV will air a short narrative film in Farsi with subtitles on Wednesday from Film and Media Arts graduate student Mehrnoosh Fetrat, who both wrote and directed the picture. The story follows a group of friends and lovers whose aspirations and relationships interplay in complex ways.
A young couple (Mojdeh and Reza) are hosting Reza’s old friend Edmon in their house. Mojdeh has always wanted to become a journalist for Boojga news network. Reza is a studious but unsuccessful filmmaker. From the beginning, Edmon grows fond of Mojdeh who is a reclusive painter. Edmon leaves the country and the circumstances get worse for Reza and Mojdeh.

Starting at 10 a.m., TUTV is presenting a marathon of Remembering When, which presents nostalgic footage of days gone past and shows from the beginning of television programming in the United States. TUTV has been doing all we can to use our platform to help support schoolchildren, families, and teachers during the coronavirus lockdown. Now, in addition to airing children’s educational programming daily, TUTV is working with the early education experts on faculty at Temple University’s College of Education to offer ADVICE FROM THE CLASSROOM, a special series designed to aid those folks now teaching their children at home.
Created in a landmark collaboration with the College of Education, TUTV and Temple’s Center for Media and Information Literacy, “Advice from the Classroom” is a new program for parents featuring smart ways to make learning at home engaging and fun. The short videos distill concise instructions and valuable insights on how to foster learning with easy and simple techniques.
The first installments are by Dr. Sabina Neugebauer, Professor of Early Childhood Education, who will explain how to help your child learn new vocabulary words. In addition to these videos, we will be offering written guides on our website to go along with each lesson.

He stays in Iran, watching from afar as his wife find success on television, and falls into a state of depression.

Many who grew up in the Philadelphia area will remember tuning into Captain Noah and His Magical Ark, a television program for children that aired from 1967 to 1994 on 6abc (WPVI-TV).
TUTV received special permission from the Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia and Bernie Prazenica, President of 6abc, in order to air this fondly-remembered classic program.
Captain Noah was a Temple alum, an ordained Lutheran minister, and a former police chaplain. His long-running program featured cartoons, music, puppets, and more.
We will begin airing Captain Noah regularly on TUTV starting on Wednesday, May 13 at 5 p.m. during our new kids-focused weekly programming block, Temple TV Kid’s Club.
Have you ever wondered what it takes to organize a concert? Are you interested in working in the live music industry? Tune into this program produced Temple students, where you are introduced to the people behind The National, a rock band well known for their somber musical arrangements from Cincinnati, Ohio.
Production Manager Stu Tenold will walk viewers through what goes into preparing for a concert, from audio to video, lighting to staging, and Manager Brandon Reid, a Temple Owl, gives advice on how to get your foot in the door.

In this episode of Brand Matters, host Steven McLean meets up with his guests, John Duffin and Stephen Facenda, to talk do’s and don’t’s when it comes to cause marketing–a type of marketing or advertising tactic that aligns a brand with a cause. In the pilot episode, hosts Matt Silverman and Mydia Alonso kick off the show with some local topics, including who’s running for City Council during the Philadelphia general election, before moving on to global news. Later, liberal analyst Kiara Marable and conservative analyst Matthew Distasio join the table to discuss Facebook’s role in politics, and in particular how this social network will affect the 2020 Presidential Election.

In an effort to help Philadelphia schoolchildren, teachers, and families, TUTV is responding to the school closures by offering programming from 8-10 a.m. and 4-6 p.m. geared toward K-12 education. We’re hoping to help kids stay engaged and learning at home amidst the coronavirus pandemic with fun educational shows. While TUTV has always focused on airing educational content, we’ve added many new programs specifically to appeal to young audiences, including The Children’s Corner, Expedition Earth, Teen TV, and Computer Programming 4 Kids.
The new programming block debuts next Monday, May 4 at 4 p.m., with afternoon editions of The Temple TV Kid’s Club repeating the next morning.

Watch a new installment of TUTV’s new student-produced program, One by One: Life During COVID-19. In this series of shorts, Temple students create vlogs to document their time as they self-isolate for the remainder of the semester.
This week, students took the opportunity to use Zoom to interview someone close to them about their personal experiences so far during the coronavirus pandemic. The interviewees range from teens to middle aged, and share their varied reactions to the shutdown and how it has affected their lives in individual ways. Some of those featured are students who are adjusting to learning online, while others are educators who are discovering the best ways of educating remotely. Some have lost their jobs or are living with parents who have lost their jobs; one interviewee shares her experience of living with someone who has tested positive for the virus; a Communication Professor gives his advice on how to cope with the pandemic; and yet others discuss how they are keeping busy learning new skills or indulging in hobbies. Tune in to watch the series finale of Baker Dave Presents…, which ceased filming new episodes last fall due to the departure of host Dave Okapal, who moved on from his long-held Temple position.
On his final show, Baker Dave is joined by Robert Velez, the IT Director at Klein College, who brings a recipe for a dish he thinks anyone can easily master: slow roasted pulled pork. This dish is a perfect quarantine project due to its long cooking time and large yield. Robert gives viewers in-depth tips and detailed step-by-step instructions for the entire process of preparing the dish. Meanwhile, Robert also shares stories illustrating how the University has changed since he first started at Temple almost 20 years ago and what he loves about his job.
