Temple Tonight: Episode 24

Temple Tonight‘s host Alexa Vernice returns for the last episode of their first (and hopefully last) fully-virtual season. Watch Alexa travel to the past with an…interesting time capsule left by former host Simon Jones, take a stab at multi-level marketing schemes, and venture on a harrowing journey of being cereal-free for a month.

Later, guests Becky Mathai and Jared Giovan talk to Alexa about their organization, Temple University Music Business Club, and the no-boy band Heatloaf rocks the stage with their song “Fireman.”

Tune in to watch the premiere on Saturday, June 12 at 3:30 and 11:30 p.m.

New travel program “Beyond Your Backyard” airs every Friday

Beyond Your Backyard

Beginning this week, TUTV will begin airing the nationally syndicated program Beyond Your Backyard hosted by Erik Hastings every Friday on our station.

Beyond Your Backyard is an Emmy award-winning educational travel series highlighting destinations all over the world. Host Erik the Travel Guy travels beyond experiences to uncover the soul of every place he visits. Each episode digs deep into the history, culture, delicious food, and famous attractions as well as off-the-beaten-path haunts.

Tune in to TUTV Fridays at 11:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. beginning this week to watch.

Season finale of We Need to Talk premieres Thurs

Hosts Bibi Bosselange, Alesia Bani, Suman Ann, and Lianna Golden return for the last episode of the season and the last episode for Suman and Lianna, who are both graduating and moving on from Temple.

They discuss their post-pandemic hot girl summer plans, their travel dreams now that lockdown has been lifted, and safety tips for women on a night out on the town. Later, Bibi and Alesia ask the graduating hosts a barrage of questions to share their wisdom as Temple grads. Suman describes the full-time position she accepted producing a television program, and Lianna shares the details of her post-graduation position as a daily reporter and multi-media journalist in El Paso, TX.

Feel Good Cooking
TUTV is proud to present a brand new show in our lineup, Feel Good Cooking! Created and produced by Temple students, this half-hour cooking program features host Samantha Tedesco demonstrating a new recipe every episode.

In the pilot episode airing next week, Sam shares a recipe for homemade pasta in red sauce that has been passed down in her family for generations. Sam discusses being raised half-Puerto Rican and half-Italian, and how food has always connected her to both sides of her extended family.

Watch the series premiere this Thursday, June 3 at noon and 8 p.m. on TUTV.

The television industry is changing all the time, especially today. Klein College of Media and Communication recently hosted a Power Hour with the Pros session with alumna and Director at CBS News Sunday Morning, Nora Gerard, KLN ‘76, to discuss why she chose to study at Temple, what her journey to become a director at CBS was like, and how the pandemic has changed the industry.

The session was moderated by General Manager of TUTV and Associate Professor of Media Studies and Production Paul Gluck. Gerard is an award-winning director at CBS, most recently for the CBS News Sunday Morning program.
