Michel Marnet (Charles Boyer) and Terry McKay (Dunne) meet on a ship during an ocean voyage and fall in love. Unfortunately, they are both engaged to be married, Michel to Lois Clarke (Astrid Allwyn) and Terry to Kenneth Bradley (Lee Bowman). They realize that their affair is more than fleeting, but to be sure they agree to meet six months later, on July 4th at the top of the Empire State Building, if neither has married. (1939)
