A Conversation with Dean Baquet

Students join the Lew Klein Excellence in the Media Award winner, Dean Baquet, for a Q&A session. Baquet, the Executive Editor of the New York Times, speaks about how he “fell in love” with journalism at age 19 and how much the industry has changed since then. Answering students’ questions, Baquet discusses the future of journalism. Although journalism and the media landscape has changed due to social media, artificial intelligence, podcasts and other forms of multimedia storytelling, Baquet asserts that “journalism is not in peril,” and that we are in fact in “a golden age of American journalism.”
