Klein Lecture: Tanja Bosch

Dr. Tanja Bosch, associate professor of media studies and production in the Centre for Film and Media Studies and deputy dean of research and postgraduate affairs at the University of Cape Town, discusses the framework and findings of her research of social media activism in South Africa, as one of the few African academics publishing in the area of social media activism. Dr. Bosch speaks about her scholarship, including her recent book Social Media and Everyday Life in South Africa. In it, she explores how South Africans use social media apps for personal and group identity formation. Her research on this topic is published widely in the field of radio studies in South Africa, emerging from her work on #RhodesMustFall and #FeesMustFall and other hashtagged campaigns.
