Humanities Lecture: Poetry


Temple University professor Adam Shellhorse discusses how Brazilian concrete poetry is far from simply “aesthetic” and internationally minded. The Brazilian concrete poetry articulates radical fabrications of the present, the poetic, and the political. No literary tendency exemplifies more powerfully the theoretical complexity and will to poetic autonomy of the historical Latin American avant-garde movements than that of the Brazilian concrete poets.
