Ethical Society Lecture: Alex Garvin

In this lecture, “Sustainable Urban Planning in the face of Shrinking Government Spending”, Alex Garvin examines the broad collaboration between the public and private sectors that is required to create vibrant, flourishing urban centers. Business can contribute both vision and resources to developing cities, but government must play an equal role to ensure that public spaces and the environment are protected, that benefits are spread equitably, and that the needs of all constituencies are met.

Alex Garvin combines a career in urban planning and real estate with teaching, architecture and public service. He is President and CEO of AGA Public Realm Strategists and an Adjunct Professor of Urban Planning and Management at Yale University.
