Chat in the Stacks: Susan Lindee

A professor of the History and Sociology of Science and the Associate Dean for the Social Sciences, School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania, Lindee presents “Before the Gene: LeRoy Matthews and the Transformation of Cystic Fibrosis” at Temple University. Lindee describes how the Cleveland Comprehensive Treatment Program for Cystic Fibrosis reduced annual mortality from 10 percent to 2 percent in CF patients being treated there between 1957 and 1960 thanks to a complex therapeutic protocol instituted by LeRoy Matthews.
