The Uptick: Pilot Episode
In this Pilot episode of The UpTick, hosts Emilie Cochrane, Alissa Clausell, and Nathen Mutale explore what’s new and impactful around the Temple and Philadelphia Communities, and examine connections to prominent issues worldwide. First, reporter Liz DeOrnellas goes to the site of the Philadelphia Energy Solutions refinery explosion to talk with local activists calling for sustainable redevelopment. Later, Michala Butler outlines support systems and resources for people in the LGBTQ+ community who struggle with being “Home For The Holidays.” Finally, Alissa Clausell and Nathen Mutale sit down with Dr. Hawthorne Smith and Dr. Adeyinka Akinsulure-Smith of The Bellvue Program For Survivors of Torture to discuss why Asylum Seekers come to America and how they provide the means to help them heal.**
