Founded in 1968 as a Dance Program in Physical Education, the Temple University Department of Dance (department status since 1974) has an illustrious history and a unique profile. The department enjoys an international reputation for its commitment to creating the artist/scholar who is well versed in the creation of original choreography and scholarship and prepared to take leadership roles as artists, educators, scholars, advocates, policy makers and agents of change in educational, social and cultural venues.
