Part two, The Lasting Impact of Slavery in New Jersey, explores events from the 19th century and examines how the legacy of slavery continues to affect African American communities today. Part 3, The Search for Freedom in New Jersey, focuses on the Great Migration, highlighting the movement of Black Americans to New Jersey in search of opportunity and escape from the systemic racism of the South, only to confront new challenges in the North.
