Reclaiming Their Voice: The Native American Vote in New Mexico & Beyond is a powerful documentary that explores the long history of Native American disenfranchisement and the inspiring resurgence of political activism within Indigenous communities. The film spotlights Native individuals speaking out against injustice and reclaiming their voice through civic engagement and grassroots efforts. It follows two central narratives: the Laguna Pueblo’s groundbreaking voter registration drive in 2004, along with the barriers they encountered at the polls, and the Sacred Alliance for Grassroots Equality (SAGE), whose tireless advocacy successfully challenged developers to protect sacred petroglyphs. Through these stories, the film reveals how Native communities in New Mexico are reclaiming their power through education, action, and perseverance.
