Battlegrounds: The Lost Community of Fazendeville is the story of an African American village that thrived for 100 years in the middle of the Chalmette Battlefield, the site of the Battle of New Orleans. In the early 1960s, the village was torn down to expand the National Park, forcing residents to leave and compensating them with only a fraction of their home’s value. This documentary brings their story to life through the voices of former residents, their descendants, and local historians.

Special programming from Temple University Television.
