DaVita Garfield, a single mother, began experiencing exhaustion but figured that she was just tired from her demanding career and full personal life. But her symptoms progressed to include blurred vision, breathlessness, and fainting. She went to the doctor’s only to be told she was simply depressed. She attended therapy for a year without her symptoms alleviating; in fact, they were multiplying. Her life was shrinking. Eventually she found out that she was suffering from a rare and life-threatening disease. She had a tumor on her pituitary gland.
