A new short music video coming out of Temple University’s Rome campus highlights and updates an Italian childhood tradition. The song featured, “Don Don Baby,” is a short nursery rhyme that is traditionally sung by children while playing hand games. The video is now airing on our broadcast channel between programs.
The song and accompanying video are part of a project by Piccoli Cantori di Milano, The Boy’s Choir of Milan, titled “Giocastrocche: filastrocche per giocare in cortile” (“nursery rhymes to play in the yard”). For their 50 year anniversary, the Choir put together a collection of 70 traditional nursery rhymes and Italian street games and performed them as songs. The video was produced by Roberto Conte.

What is the impact of political campaign advertising? How do these ads create a narrative for each election cycle? And is such messaging good or bad for society at large?
Media Inside Out takes these questions on in light of the 2014 Mid-term Election. In an new episode, host Sherri Hope Culver looks in-depth at how the media’s involvement affected the election’s outcome.
Culver is joined by Michael Hagen––Temple University Professor of Political Science, founder of the Institute of Public Affairs, and author of The 2000 Presidential Election––and Thomas Fitzgerald, National Politics Writer for the Philadelphia Inquirer. Together they take a look at recent advertisements from both sides of the 2014 Election for Pennsylvania Governor and analyze the differences and similarities in strategy, message and tone in each. They also talk about the rise of social media as a tool for political messaging; for example how campaign managers can precisely target viewers depending on location and device.

Gary walks us through the whole experience and explains what he thinks has allowed the Diamond Marching Band to get so much attention.
