Dean Baquet, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and current executive editor of The New York Times, will be the 17th recipient of the annual Lew Klein Excellence in the Media Award. He’ll join several Temple alumni who are also being honored this year.
The ceremony and luncheon will be aired live on TUTV this Friday, November 10, 2017 starting at 11:15 a.m.
The Lew Klein Alumni in the Media and Excellence in the Media Awards were established through the generosity of H.F. (Gerry) and Marguerite Lenfest and Walter and Leonore Annenberg through the Annenberg Foundation to celebrate outstanding members of the media whose achievements bring honor to their profession.

Lisa Bien examines how having low self esteem can negatively effect interpersonal relationships in a new episode of her show, Bouncing Back. Lisa speaks to Temple University student Erica DeAngelo about her experiences being in a relationship with a man who controlled every aspect of her life–an abusive partner who texted her constantly, demanded approval for every outfit she wore, and forced her to work out at the gym.
Since ending the relationship, Erica has found how necessary it’s been to build her opinion of her own self worth so as to avoid being susceptible to getting involved in another abusive relationship. Lisa and Erica also speak with behavior specialist consultant Allison Faust who offers advice on how to tell if you have healthy self esteem.

Bouncing Back, hosted by Temple University Public Relations Professor Lisa Bien, tackles tough topics that may burden students, often privately. Recently, local media outlet Philly Voice profiled Lisa Bien and her work for TUTV in a new article, which describes how Lisa came up with the idea for the show, as well as her background that made her interested in helping students and others discuss their stories of overcoming personal hurdles.
This week, bullying is discussed through the eyes of a student who was targeted in his youth. Mark Moore describes how he suffered years of bullying, but regained his confidence through martial arts. Now, he mentors kids at his very own martial arts studio, Underground Martial Arts and Fitness Center.
