TUTV & latakoo

A new technology is giving TUTV students an edge as they enter professional life.

latakoo teams up with Temple‘s TUTV to train next-gen of Media Pros.
Latakoo, the leader in end-to-end video workflow solutions, has joined forces with Temple University to revolutionize the way aspiring journalists are trained and prepared to work in broadcast news. The partnership combines latakoo’s cutting-edge technology with Temple’s award-winning 24/7 in Philadelphia. The collaboration provides students with real-world experience while learning how to use the same cutting-edge tools that are being used in local news organizations on a worldwide scale.

“Using latakoo offers our students a new gateway to the industry,” Paul Gluck, Associate Professor of Practice and General Manager of Temple University Television (TUTV), says. “ It means that the transition from classroom to newsroom can be seamless, and that is invaluable.”

Students & TUTV Staff are using latakoo’s platform for content management and to transfer, transcribe, translate, collaborate, edit, and distribute videos and graphics from the field to TUTV. Students can also share content with two news stations in Philadelphia that use Latakoo, NBC10 & CBS3.

As more universities join the initiative, Latakoo will facilitate a nationwide content exchange, allowing journalism students to share content with their peers across the country, mimicking workflows used by news station groups today.

“Temple students will be ready to walk right into any major news operation, win the job, and contribute immediately and that’s because Temple is investing in a technology that is already trusted by broadcasters and content creators around the world,” said latakoo Co-founder & President Jade Kurian. “Latakoo gives them the time to focus on story-telling rather than worry about the complexities of file transfer and media workflow.”

The collaboration began last year when TUTV & Temple sent a team of students to Paris to report on events surrounding the Olympic Games. They launched latakoo, and the results were transformative. For the first time, students were able to send high-quality videos for live reports and real-time collaboration. Temple has now integrated latakoo into its broader station operations.

Benefits of the joint venture:
● Faster, easier workflow – No matter where they are, students and staff can access file footage, collaborate, edit, distribute, and more – all within the Latakoo cloud-based platform.
● Professional advantage – Temple students get hands-on experience with the same tech used by major broadcast networks, preparing them for a seamless transition into the business.
● Industry connections – Students can connect directly with professional journalists through Latakoo, creating a pipeline between education and the industry.
● Educational resources – Latakoo provides students direct access to exclusive content in Latakoo, featuring insights and guidance from veteran broadcasters.

latakoo has also partnered with the University of Cincinnati and El Paso High School.

About latakoo – Latakoo is a mission-critical cloud-based video workflow used by the world’s largest broadcasters. The platform is the fastest, easiest, and most secure way to transfer high-quality video files regardless of file size or connectivity. Based in Austin, Texas, the company was founded in 2010 by award-winning journalists Paul Adrian and Jade Kurian.
