Temple Experience: Fall 2020

Hosts Biren Patel, Changes Raffaele and Meghan Shaffer connect with Klein students about their experiences at Temple. They share everything from what brought them to Temple to their favorite classes. They also discuss how COVID regulations have shaped their lives at Temple during the past semester.

New editions of weekly Temple sports shows end this week

Inside the Nest Anchors 2020

TUTV’s weekly student sports news programs will finish off their respective seasons this week as the semester comes to a close. No new episodes will be produced until next year.

The last episode of Inside the Nest will premiere on Thursday, December 3 in their regular time slot of noon and 8 p.m. OwlSports Update will sign off for the year on Friday, December 4 at noon and 8 p.m. Don’t miss these final episodes––tune in to TUTV on Comcast 50, Verizon 45 or online!

New “Flashback” with Marc Zumoff airs Tuesday

Temple Flashback: Marc Zumoff

Emmy Award winning sportscaster Marc Zumoff is featured in the latest episode of Temple Flashback, TUTV’s alumni talk show. Marc previously appeared in one of the earliest episodes of Flashback back in 2012 and returns via Zoom to talk to host Alexis Beckett. Together they discuss his career highlights and beginnings at Temple. The Philadelphia native always dreamed of becoming the voice of the 76ers, which is what he is known as today.

Marc has spent almost 40 years covering sports and currently calls play-by-play for the Philadelphia 76ers on NBC Sports Philadelphia, in addition to providing career development and coaching for sports media professionals.

Recent grad’s VR start up highlighted Thurs

High Flying Owls: Ethan Berg

On the latest episode of High Flying Owls, host Dwight Carey interviews recent Temple grad and Founder and CEO at Agora World Inc., Ethan Berg, whose company creates creates 3D, virtual reality (VR) environments that replicate the physical spaces we’ve had to avoid during lockdown. Ethan describes how Agora World facilitates an improved online shopping experience with innovative new features that allow virtual spaces to compete with their physical equivalents.

Ethan also talks about how his Temple experience shaped his entrepreneurial spirit, particularly his involvement with the robotics and prosthetics clubs, and highlights the Fox entrepreneurship degree as starting him down the path to Agora World.

New “We Need to Talk” premieres Tuesday

We Need to Talk

TUTV will premiere another edition We Need to Talk next week with your hosts, Bibi Bosselange, Alesia Bani, Suman Ann, and Lianna Golden, who discuss how you know when you’ve found “the one”– when it comes to finding true love, is it really how they make it seem in romcoms? Later, they address how to help a friend who is in a toxic relationship.

The Vibe at Temple University

The Vibe, TUTV’s hip hop culture talk show and music program, premieres its new season this week. Produced virtually for the first time, the season premiere debuts all new hosts, Semeia Smith and Samir Walker, and a new format.

This episode of The Vibe serves as a panel conversation regarding allyship, microaggressions, the Black Lives Matter movement, and more. Alex Hines, The Vibe Executive Producer and National Program Manager for the National Society for Minorities in Hospitality, serves as moderator. Panelists include queer black femme creative, Graciella Maiolatesi; Gaby Turiel, the National Chair for the National Society for Minorities in Hospitality; President of the Minority Voices project, Hafeezat Bishi; and co-host Samir Walker.

New series features cheesesteak reviews

LVN EATS WORLD

Welcome to LVN EATS WORLD, a series created by Temple students Dylan Hrivnak and Logan Van Nostrand. The show follows Logan Van Nostrand as he journeys across the city of Philadelphia in the hopes of finding the best cheesesteak. Follow him as he attempts to eat at 15 different cheesesteak places and make some great memories along the way.

New “Flashback” features 6abc’s Beccah Hendrickson

Temple Flashback: Beccah Hendrickson

In an all new edition of Temple Flashback, host Lianna Golden sits down with Beccah Hendrickson, who got her start in broadcast news reporting for Temple Update and TUTV and can currently be seen on 6abc Action News.

While at Temple, Beccah covered major events for TUTV including the 2015 Pope Visit and 2016 DNC and graduated with honors from Klein College. Following graduation, she started as a General Assignment Reporter in her hometown of Lancaster, Pennsylvania where she produced award-winning reporting, and in 2019 she made the major market move to the 6abc Action News team, where she serves as a Community Journalist.

Beccah takes a break from telling other stories to share her own, beginning with her experiences at Temple. Watch the premiere on TUTV this Tuesday, November 10 at 11:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Watch “Upstaged,” the latest production from Temple Pilots

Temple Pilots: Upstaged

Temple Pilots returns to TUTV with a new original film this week. “Upstaged” is a comedy about drama starring Sarah Barainyak, Michael Macera, and Nathan Butts and directed by Steven Aronow and Abrham Bogale, with a story by Abrham Bogale.

“Upstaged” follows Heather who, when fired from playing a bit part in a dramatic production, endeavors to put on her own play in an effort to prove her acting talents. Heather is forced to face the many pitfalls that come with being in charge of a theater production and her hubris is rapidly exposed.

Temple Pilots is a student group formed to help fellow students produce new show ideas for TUTV. With the help and support of TUTV, this program delivers an array of interesting stories in the form of a series of pilots.

The World at Temple returns Tuesday with new hosts

The World at Temple 2020 Meet the new hosts of The World at Temple, Andreas Copes and Yamikani Mandiwanzira, who goes by Yaya for short, on the all new season premiere of our international student talk show.

Andreas is from Germany and previously studied at the Community College of Philadelphia. He came to the city of Philadelphia initially because of love. Yaya hails from Zimbabwe and learned about Temple through her aunt, who is a former Owl.

The two interview Esteban Suarez, who is from Mexico and plays on the Temple Men’s Soccer team while pursuing his Communication Studies degree. Suarez discusses what his life is like on and off the field and shares what it was like finishing the semester in his hometown, Mexico City, at the beginning of the pandemic. Later, the hosts also interview Laura Carvajal, a Temple student from Columbia who is studying Media Studies and Production.

TUTV student programming placed first in three categories with a total of seven awards won at the 2020 CBI Awards on Saturday! TUTV’s long-running comedy sketch show returns with its new season this week!

Featured in the season premiere is the reality show “Real Bog Witches of Hagtown” wherein one of the Bog Witches returns after being banished to the woods for hundreds of years. Later, learn about an opportunity to get dance lessons for Zoom calls, and hear about a new product–Heckle-me-Kelmo–that will teach your kids about the real world.
