Temple Update will be premiering its first episode of the semester LIVE! Starting Thursday, September 22, Temple Update will premiere a new episode at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. every Thursday. Temple Update is a weekly, half-hour news program written, produced, directed, and anchored by Temple University students. Topics discussed will pertain to events and news around campus and surrounding neighborhoods.

Media Inside Out Algorithms

Guests Judith Donath and Michael Kearns join host Sherri Hope Culver on a new episode of our media literacy program to share their expertise on algorithms and discuss how they affect our everyday lives.

Donath works as a writer, designer, and artist, focusing her work around the co-evolution of technology and society. Her work pertaining to social media, ethics, and AI has been published several times, including in her very own textbook.

Kearns is a Professor and the National Center Chair in the Computer and Information Science Department at the University of Pennsylvania. His research primarily concerns machine learning, algorithmic game theory, and quantitative finance. Among other things, Kearns also works in various departments in the Wharton School of Business.

Tune in Monday, September 20 at 12 p.m. and again at 8 p.m. for this new, live edition of Media Inside Out.

Meet Jason Wingard

Get to know Temple University’s new President, Jason Wingard, in an interview with senior Klein College student, Niccolas Uff. President Wingard describes his experience at Temple after one month on the job and his goals looking ahead. His top priorities include (1) raising the reputation and profile of the University, (2) reevaluating our curriculum, and (3) engaging with our community in a more definitive way. President Wingard has high expectations for Temple and envisions it will become a top university in the nation, enabling its students to get the best, most distinguished jobs.

Along with his vision for the future, President Wingard discusses the current challenges he faces pertaining to COVID-19 and the open Athletic Director position. Temple Update‘s Niccolas Uff asks him to provide tips for a successful semester, his thoughts on being the first African-American president, and why he believes Temple is a perfect fit for him. TUTV Community Forum: Vaccine Hesitancy

As the pandemic continues, find out what Temple is doing behind the scenes to protect students and the neighboring community as a whole. Tune in to a new episode of TUTV Community Forum featuring an interview by host Alexis Beckett with Dr. Cornelius Pitts, the Director of the COVID-19 Vaccine Initiative at Temple University.

Working at the Temple Center for Urban Bioethics, Dr. Pitts has been involved in community-based research in the Temple community since the University first began offering the vaccine. Through his research, Dr. Pitts works to address and fight vaccine hesitancy, as well as the healthcare disparities that have existed long before the pandemic. This interview brings to light crucial discussions of community, trust, and science while Temple pushes for its students and neighbors to get vaccinated.

TUTV Community Forum is a student-run program covering serious issues and significant events that shape life at Temple University and the surrounding neighborhoods. Watch the premiere of this episode on Wednesday, September 15 at 1 and 9 p.m.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the attacks that brought down the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001. On this day of remembrance, TUTV will be airing programs for our viewers to watch as they reflect on this tragic day in U.S. history.

9/11 Remembered will air at 10:30 a.m. and again at 6:30 p.m. Next, watch 9/11 Heroes of Flight 93 at 12:30 and 8:30 p.m. Tune in as we remember those who lost their lives and those whose courage stood out on this momentous day two decades ago.
