Tune in for a special presentation of Your Best Life with host Lisa Bien premiering on TUTV this week. In a new hour-long episode, Lisa hears from three people who have lost a loved one to suicide and have gone on to turn tragedy into advocacy. Lisa sheds a light on the long-lasting effects that suicide has on those left behind.

Ihsan Hines, President of My Brother’s Keeper; Deirdre Breckenridge, author of A Whisper From Noelle; and Mary Ann Murtha, Area Director of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention join Lisa to discuss how their lives have been impacted by suicide and how they have gone on to work towards suicide prevention and awareness.

New comedy program premieres Saturday

Laugh It Up

Laugh It Up with Lauren: Pilot

TUTV is excited to add a brand new program to our roster! Laugh It Up with Lauren is hosted by Lauren Schulman and showcases aspiring stand-up comedians along with fun segments in between.

The pilot episode was produced during the pandemic and features five stand-up comics performing from their apartments. Taylor Bernstein, Sarah Fatemi, Ross Weisman, Julian Maldonado, and Steve Lipman each deliver a short set individually and later join Lauren for a game at the end.

Don’t miss the premiere on TUTV! Sit back, relax, and get ready to Laugh It Up this Saturday, April 17 at 3:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. and at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 18.

Meet The World at Temple’s new co-hosts!

The World at Temple 2020

The World at Temple returns for the first episode of 2021 this Tuesday with two new co-hosts, Suman Ann and Jesse Dimich-Louvet!

In this episode, hear from guests Tanjeen Twinkle and Tasnim Hasan, two Temple alums from Bangladesh who have started a podcast together. Uniquely Me focuses on the South Asian community and makes an effort to tackle topics not normally discussed openly in their culture, including dating, colorism, and mental health issues.

Next, explore Temple’s Rome campus! Temple Rome’s Orientation, Student Activities, and Social Media Director Gianni Marangio takes viewers on a tour of the city and provides a preview of what Temple students can experience while studying there.

Temple University’s very own student-run sketch comedy show is back with a new half-hour episode on TUTV!

In this edition, see the new hit game show: is it your high school English teacher, or some other lonely white woman? Later, Presidential candidates try to appeal to a new demographic, and a famous Mozart opera is updated for modern times…kind of.

High Flying Owls: Switch Stream

Tune in for a new edition of High Flying Owls hosted by Dwight Carey, an Assistant Professor of Strategic Management at Temple, who brings to light alumni who have started their own companies.

The theme of this episode is “From Startup to Surprise to Startup: How to Overcome Challenges.” Three Temple alumni are brought on to share their journeys as entrepreneurs who overcame hurdles and setbacks with their initial startups. The guests, sisters Sarah and Rachel Stanton and their friend Tyler Berezowsky, eventually founded Switch Stream together, an assistive technology company making wearable devices for persons with physical impairments. They each discuss their early failures and the lessons they took that led them to success with their current venture.

Hosts Bibi Bosselange, Alesia Bani, Suman Ann, and Lianna Golden return for a special episode looking at health, nutrition, diet culture, body image, and how social media influencers affect how women approach those topics.

Joining them to discuss these topics is influencer and current Clinical Nutrition student Marlee Dannenbaum, whose Instagram, @remix.to.nutrition, is devoted to shedding light on these topics through her own struggles.

Covid-19 Impact on Small Businesses

In a new episode of TUTV Community Forum, host Mydia Alonso takes a closer look at the impact COVID-19 has had on small businesses in the Philadelphia area. She is joined by the Director of the Small Business Development Center at the Fox School of Business, Maura Shenker. The Center’s mission is to help people in the community start businesses and provide aid as they grow, including one-on-one consulting, feasibility studies, and management strategies.

COVID-19 has been devastating to the small businesses in the community and elsewhere, and Maura and Mydia together examine what can be done to alleviate the burden that has been placed on them during the pandemic.

Congrats to our IBS Awards winners!

Temple Talk Season 8 Premiere

TUTV student-produced programming won two awards from the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System at this year’s IBS Awards!

TUTV’s student-produced entertainment talk show Temple Talk won “Best Variety Program”. Additionally, one of our station promos won “Best TV Station On-Air Promo”. “Don’t You Forget About TUTV” was produced by a student team from Klein College course “Advertising 3008: Television Promotion: On-Air, Online, On Social” and paid homage to Breakfast Club while promoting TUTV. Watch it below.

A new episode of A Broader View examines what we could realistically do as a nation to unify after the Capitol siege.

Professor Karen Turner is joined by Dr. Tiffenia Archie, Dr. Leslie Wilson, and Reverend Damaris Walker to discuss the current political climate in the United States, and in particular the breaching of the Capital Building on January 6th, the social justice protests throughout the past year, and how can we hold people accountable while working to achieve national healing and unity.

Dr. Archie serves as the Assistant Vice President of Institutional Diversity, Equity, Advocacy and Leadership (IDEAL) at Temple University; Dr. Leslie Willson is the Associate Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Montclair State University; and Reverend Damaris Walker is the Pastor of Miller Memorial Baptist Church in North Philadelphia.
