- Launched on October 1, 2010, TUTV is a multi-media, university-wide resource housed in Temple’s Lew Klein College of Media and Communication.
- TUTV’s cable channel, and associated new media outlets, are intended to provide a digital showcase for the best work done by Temple students, faculty and alumni.
- The station will produce original programming with the departments within Klein, plus other Temple schools and colleges.
- TUTV will also create content in partnership with regional, cultural organizations, community groups and professional media companies.
- TUTV is a 24/7 educational, cable television channel–it is not a public access channel, nor is it a public broadcasting station.
- The station does not drive curriculum, but will work with instructors on course projects.
- The station is a cable-only channel, with no broadcast transmitter.
- Our station is carried on Comcast channel 50 and Verizon channel 45 only within the city of Philadelphia.
- Cable carriage beyond Philadelphia, in the 10 surrounding counties that comprise the Greater Philadelphia Media Market, has been requested. That proposal is under consideration right now.
- TUTV is located on Temple’s Main Campus in Annenberg Hall Room 107 at the Kal and Lucille Rudman Media Production Center.
- The station operates under a contract with the City of Philadelphia, which allows TUTV to enter into a franchise agreement for cable distribution.
- Under that agreement, TUTV is required to meet technical, editorial and community standards commensurate with any broadcast station.
