Improving the viewing public’s media literacy was host Sherri Hope Culver’s mission when she first had the idea for Media Inside Out. What is it, anyway?

Ever wonder what goes into making a TV show or any media content? Have you considered the true meaning behind a news report, documentary or an advertisement? The ability to access, analyze, and evaluate media content gives you media literacy. But why is it important?

On a new episode of Media Inside Out, Culver brings media expert Michelle Ciulla Lipkin, the executive director of the National Association for Media Literacy Education, to explain why being able to decipher these messages in our media-centric society is so vital.
