Aircheck: Philly Jazz Isn’t Dead is a documentary film produced by four Temple University students. The term “jazz” evokes a specific image in our minds: one of sultry moods, dim smoke-filled rooms, and the smooth sounds of pianos and saxophones. But jazz is as diverse as the city of Philadelphia itself–and what most people don’t realize is that jazz lived, and continues to live, a vibrant life here. Many individuals might argue that jazz in Philadelphia is dead. But the life of Philadelphia jazz is far from over.
