The Temple News Centennial Speaker Series: The 60s, 70s and 80s


To celebrate its 100th anniversary, The Temple News will be hosting seminars, speaker series and events throughout the year. The Temple News has been the paper of record for the Temple University community since it first printed as the Temple University Weekly on September 19, 1921. The award-winning student publication, editorially independent of Temple, is now published in print biweekly on Tuesdays and daily online. The Temple News distributes 2,000 printed copies, free of charge, to the university’s primary locations on campus.

Alumni Richard Leiby, KLN ‘78, editor at the Washington Post; Ellie Fisher, KLN ‘73, author and former United Press International editor; and Irv Randolph, KLN ’81, managing editor of the Philadelphia Tribune discuss how they tackled covering some of the issues of their generation including Watergate, the Civil Rights Movement, and many others.
