Summertime in Ocean City, NJ


Student journalist Spencer Trabbold spent the summer in local beach town, Ocean City, NJ to get a closer look into the summer scene. For the first installment, Spencer talks to Ocean City surfers and learns about the surfing culture that the beach town offers, including a benefit surfing contest that brings awareness to a rare illness, amyloidosis.

Spencer highlights a business  in Ocean City, NJ participates in the J-1 visa job program. The Original Fudge Kitchen hires students from abroad to give them a chance to learn English and visit the United States for the summer through the work-and-study-based exchange program.

Lastly, Spencer speaks to the family behind beloved local restaurant Kessel’s Korner, which has become a labor of love for the whole family for almost 30 years.
