(Recorded in October 2024) In this episode of The Vibe, hosts Joshua Groves, Amiyah Young, DJ Britton, and Tristen Plato discuss the versatility of Black artists and their significant impact on various music genres. They highlight artists they believe have made the most significant contributions to cross-genre music. Later, Tristen and DJ walk around campus and find out what kind of music students are listening to and how they believe Black artists have influenced those genres. Finally, the hosts play a game called “Guess the Artist,” where they answer trivia questions about different Black artists and the history of their discography and performances.
Created by journalism alumni Nydja Hood, The Vibe is Temple University’s first hip-hop culture and music television show, which provides a platform to artists at Temple and beyond. On The Vibe, students discuss what is trending in popular culture as well as feature rappers, poets, singers, and more.
