Host Andreas Copes takes a look back at one year of QueerCOVID–a year of challenges, protest, and change. Temple alum Nik Schmeltzer appears to describe his fraught experience with virtual graduation in 2020 and how his dead name was displayed during the ceremony. Nik reached out to Dr. Scott Gratson, Director of Communication Studies, for help with the situation. The discuss the importance of creating a safe space for all students. Next, hear from Nu’Rodney Prad, IDEAL’s Director of Student Engagement, to talk about being an advocate for the LGBTQ+ community. Student Rachel Berson makes an appearance to discuss her thesis on world pride and how world pride has evolved from a protest to a celebration. Lastly, Andreas speaks with Kendall Stephens, a trans activist.
