(Recorded in September 2024) On this edition of Queer Temple, host Laila Page takes a deep dive into the role of Queer Education. This episode features the Director of Undergraduate Studies and Director of Communication Studies at Klein College of Media & Communication, Dr. Scott Gratson, Ph.D. Ph.D. (he/him). Dr. Gratson teaches Temple’s “Pride Class” (CSI 4628: Empowerment of the LGBTQ+ Community Through the NYC Pride March), which teaches students about the history of Pride, the LGBTQIA+ community, and how to get involved in the New York City Pride March. Next, Laila welcomes Dr. Gratson’s pride class students, Kevin Murphy (he/him) and Cullen McCormick (he/him). Later, Laila sits down with Kimberly Gucciardi-Kreigh (she/they), a teaching assistant in the pride class, and Camille Murphy (she/her), both Captains of Spectator Services at the NYC Pride Parade, to discuss how the pride class and the NYC Pride March impacted them.
Queer Temple is TUTV’s first LGBTQIA+ series, co-created by Temple students Christopher Smith and Andreas Copes. The program examines the world through the eyes of LGBTQIA+ individuals, focusing on current events, history, and life in the queer community.
