OwlSports Update: January 23, 2020


On the first edition of of OwlSports Update in 2020, anchors JJ Michalski and Adam Crognale catch us up on everything we’ve missed over the break. After their 82-89 loss against Cincinnati and another conference loss against SMU, the Men’s Basketball team has only won 2 games so far in the American Conference. Luckily, they pull off an upset at home with a W against a nationally ranked opponent. Zach McHoul takes a closer look at how the team breaks their 3-game losing streak by defeating Wichita State. The Women’s Basketball team has remained undefeated at McGonigle Hall so far in 2020 after a win over USF. Addison Hunsicker has more on both the Men’s and Women’s standings in the AAC and their chances of making it to the tournament in March. The Women’s Gymnastics team breaks program record as they take first place in all four categories at the ECAC. Courtney Murphy reports on their “relentless mentality” and how that has impacted the team’s performance this season. The end of Temple’s football season is not the end of football for many Temple Owls. Ray Dunne joins the desk to discuss the career of some former Temple Owls–some are heading to the NFL draft while some are transferring. Before wrapping up the show, Adam Crognale and JJ Michalski talk to Temple News editor Colin Evans about the debate regarding having a football stadium right on Temple campus.
