The Audience Shift from Consumer to Author

On this episode of Media Inside Out, host Sherri Hope Culver explores the changes in media audiences, specifically the shift from being an audience of “viewers” to an audience of “creators”. Media isn’t just about “watching TV” anymore. Many of us have personal blogs, upload photos on Facebook, make videos for our friends, even self-publish a book. What has happened in between our passive consumption of media and our self-possessed involvement in creating media as a nonstop expression of our lives? How does social media affect adolescent development?
