The March of the Wooden Soldiers

The March of the Wooden Soldiers

One of the most beloved of all holiday films, based on Victor Herbert’s operetta, Babes in Toyland. Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy star as Stannie Dum and Ollie Dee, the well meaning but dim-witted apprentices to the master toymaker of Toyland. In one of the most hilarious mix-ups Stannie gets Santa’s order wrong and makes 100 soldiers six feet high instead of 600 soldiers one foot high, which turns out to save the day when the Bogeymen attack Toyland under the direction of the evil Silas Barnaby. (1934)
