Recorded during the 6th Annual Motor City Blues & Boogie Woogie Festival, the program showcase 60 years in the evolution of American Music. Pianist Butch Thmpson performs turn of the century ragtime and seminal boogie woogie. Maria Muldaur recreates performances of the Classic Blues divas from the 20’s and 30’s. Pianist and vocalist Alma Smith performs jazzy blues from the mid 40’s, and the amazing Jason D. Williams bring down the house with a has-to-be-seen-to-be-believed performance straddling the transition from boogie woogie to the rock & roll of Jerry lee Lewis.

The American Music Research Center (AMRC) is dedicated to exploring and celebrating the diverse and rich traditions of American music.
