Last OwlSports and Temple Update shows of 2016 air this week

Tune in to TUTV this week for the last episodes of Temple Update and OwlSports Update of the year. This Tuesday, December 13 at noon we’ll air an hour-long season finale of OwlSports Update, including new interim football Coach Ed Foley’s press conference. And don’t miss Temple Update‘s holiday show on Thursday, December 15 at 10 a.m. Both shows will resume with new episodes next year.

Bouncing Back highlights student veterans

In this episode of Bouncing Back, host Lisa Bien highlights the particular challenges former military members face when transitioning to university life. She invites former Temple University student and Marine Jim Miller of the Power Veterans Initiative and Laura Riddick, Temple’s Director of Veteran and Adult Recruiting, who coordinates veterans affairs, including enrollment, benefits and career services, to the set of her show. Together they discuss how difficult it may be for some returning veterans to choose a career path or adjust to civilian life, among other things.

The last episode of Temple Talk of the year is chock-full of fun. Ofo Ezeugwu, a Temple alum and CEO of  WYLandlord.com, and Power 99’s Mina SayWhat appear to talk to the hosts about their work. The hosts exchange gifts, play holiday pictionary, and talk pop culture news, including Kanye’s breakdown and Mike Pence’s being called out by the cast of Hamilton.  Also Marissa Giletto, one of the original creators of Temple Talk, bids adieu, so don’t miss this episode!

What’s so different about millennials?

A Broader View: Millennials

A new episode of A Broader View examines the latest adult generation, known as millennials or Generation Y, and how their view of the world has been shaped by technology and social media, among other topics.

Host Sydney Dorner speaks to Temple Assistant Professor Jillian Bauer and Temple freshman Anthony Cordi about how it feels to be dating as a millennial, touching on subjects like dating apps and catfishing.

Later, co-host Lindsay Weiner talks millennials and self image, specifically the generation’s attitude towards make up (e.g., contouring, a preference for high-end beauty brands, and YouTube tutorials). Lindsay brings two social media entrepreneurs to the set–Paige Governs of Miss Carter Vanity (which sells decorated vanity mirrors) and Alexis Wood of Style By Nabree (a brand of t-shirts)–to gain their insight on millennial beauty standards.

Making a classic snack, plus something healthy

Baker Dave Presents... Puppy Chow

Dr. Kimberly Chestnut, the former Director of Temple’s Wellness Resource Center, visits the set of Baker Dave Presents… to make puppy chow. Also called dog food or muddy buddies, puppy chow is a sweet snack made from chocolate chips, peanut butter, and Chex cereal. The recipe comes from her Grandma Barbara, but Baker Dave brings his own expertise, showing Dr. Chestnut how not to burn chocolate by making chocolate ganache. Later, Baker Dave also demonstrates how easy it is to make homemade granola.

This all new episode of Baker Dave Presents… will air on TUTV Thursday, November 17 at 11:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tune in to Comcast 50 or Verizon 45 or online.

Temple Professor of Social Psychology Karim Johnson, journalist Denise Clay, and the Director of Communications for Congressman Robert Brady, Karen Warrington, discuss these topics and more, on Monday, November 7 at 1 and 9 p.m.

But eventually he refocused and started over with the advice of a recruiter who helped him regain his footing.

All day October 31, we’ll be airing our Nick the Beat horror movie series, including Horror Hotel, Carnival of Souls and Mill of the Stone Woman. Our Nick the Beat series is a limited run of classic horror and thriller films with an introduction by Temple Theater student Alex Monsell as “Nick the Beat,” a hip ghost from the 60s haunting Annenberg Hall. Temple Tonight returns to TUTV Saturday

Temple Tonight hosts

Temple Tonight, the late night talk show for TUTV audiences, returns with an all new episode this Saturday. Hosts Demetri Pascoe and Tom Leonard present the first annual “Garbage Bag Awards,” which highlights the worst jokes they could find. NBC10 Traffic reporter, former Miss Philadelphia and Temple student Francesca Ruscio visits the set and describes how she juggles her immensely overscheduled life as a student, news reporter, and model/media personality. Later, Indie pop band Junipur perform a song.

In a new episode of Baker Dave Presents, Resident Director of Hardwick Hall, Siobhan Skerritt, visits to share a family recipe. Siobhan, whose family is from Monserrat, prepares the classic Caribbean comfort food banana fritters. Banana fritters are almost like pancakes but sweeter and eaten without syrup.

New Temple Talk airs Tuesday

A new episode of Temple Talk premieres Tuesday, October 25 at 1 p.m. on TUTV.

Hosts Marissa Giletto, Sean Gnitzcavich, Rachel Keller, and Justin Obendorfer discuss everything from the Donald Trump-Billy Bush video to the first male cover model for Teen Vogue. Later, they interview long-time Philadelphia sports radio personality and Temple alum Tony Bruno.  In addition, food blogger Roberta Pipito from Homemade Delish comes to the set to provide an in-person demonstration of how to cook easy and cheap college meals. Finally, musician Brian Walker performs.
