This Women’s History Month, Temple University Television is proud to feature two programs that highlight the impact, resilience, and leadership of women shaping the sports media landscape.
March 11
Temple Flashback – Featuring Breland Moore
In this episode of Temple Flashback, host Alexis Becket sits down with Temple alumna, trailblazer, former mascot, and FOX29 sports anchor Breland Moore.
In a full-circle conversation, Breland reflects on her journey from portraying Hooter the Owl as a Temple student to becoming the first woman of color to hold a sports anchor position in the Philadelphia market. Her story is one of perseverance, preparation, and embracing opportunity at every stage.
The episode explores how her Temple experience shaped her path, the challenges she faced breaking into major market sports media, and what it means to represent the next generation of women in broadcast journalism.

Navigating Inequality From The Sidelines
Created by Rebecca Sebring as her Master of Arts culminating project at Klein College of Media and Communication, Navigating Inequality From The Sidelines examines the realities women face in sports media.
The documentary features candid conversations with:
- Kate Scott, Philadelphia 76ers play-by-play announcer
- Victoria Lim, Co-founder of the Asian American Journalists Association Sports Task Force
- Alexa Ross, Sports Anchor/Reporter at CBS4/FOX59 Indianapolis
- Kara Guno, Rowan University Sports Communications student
- Breland Moore, FOX29 sports anchor and co-host of The 215
Together, they share personal experiences navigating gender dynamics in the industry, discuss mentorship and representation, and reflect on what drives them to continue breaking barriers for future generations.
These two programs — one led by a Temple alumna who has made history in Philadelphia sports broadcasting, and the other created by a graduate student amplifying voices across the industry — reflect the power of storytelling and the importance of representation.
At TUTV, student creators are not only learning about media history — they are documenting it, shaping it, and contributing to it.
Join us March 11 and March 12 as we celebrate Women’s History Month through the voices of women redefining sports media.
