TUgether!

TUgether! Episode 2 Premieres: Stories of Service, Community, and Connection

TUTV is proud to present the second episode of TUgether!, a new series that spotlights the people, organizations, and student leaders who are building stronger communities across Philadelphia and within Temple University. Airing December 5, this episode continues the show’s mission of amplifying service, resilience, and meaningful change through powerful community storytelling.

Produced by Temple students and created in partnership with the Klein College of Media and Communication, TUgether!reflects Klein’s commitment to hands-on, impactful community journalism. Whether through the Logan Center for Urban Investigative Reporting, Temple Update, or long-form documentaries on TUTV, Klein students are given the tools to tell stories that matter—and TUgether! is the newest platform to bring those stories to life.

What’s Inside Episode 2

Hosted by Kevin Gruen, this episode features three inspiring stories of service and impact:

• Making Communities Safer in New Jersey
TUgether! profiles firefighters who are improving emergency response times and expanding fire safety education. Their work demonstrates how local leadership and collaboration can save lives—and strengthen trust between first responders and residents.

• Philly AIDS Thrift: Creativity, Compassion, and Community Support
At the heart of South Street, Philly AIDS Thrift operates with a singular purpose: to give back. Gruen visits the team behind this beloved nonprofit to explore how their mission-driven work supports HIV/AIDS organizations across the region while fostering a vibrant, inclusive community space.

• Preserving Philadelphia’s Chinatown Heritage
As development pressures continue to shape the city, community leaders in Chinatown are working tirelessly to protect the neighborhood’s cultural identity. TUgether! highlights their efforts to preserve history, amplify resident voices, and safeguard an essential part of Philadelphia’s story.

The episode concludes in studio with an uplifting conversation featuring Temple student Heera Chhetri, who shares how the Nepali Students Association is helping international students build relationships, navigate college life, and find a true sense of belonging at Temple.

About the Series

Launched at a premiere event in Annenberg Hall, TUgether! was created to celebrate the spirit of service alive throughout Temple and Philadelphia. The series aligns with Klein’s mission to train journalists who understand the power of storytelling—and who value the positive impact that media can have on communities.

“This new series from TUTV is the perfect example of the education Klein College and TUTV provides,” said Acting Dean Deborah Cai. “TUgether highlights the service and resilience in our community, while giving students the opportunity to learn through doing.”

By showcasing changemakers, TUgether! aims to counter the negative narratives that often dominate media and instead lift up stories of connection, generosity, and shared humanity.

“TUgether was born from the idea to create a platform that celebrates those who give themselves and teach students that journalism can be a force for good,” said Joe Schreiber, General Manager of TUTV.
