Honoring Our Heroes: TUTV’s Veterans Day Lineup

This Veterans Day, Temple University Television (TUTV) proudly honors the courage, sacrifice, and service of those who have worn the uniform of the United States Armed Forces. On Monday, November 11, we invite you to join us for a full day of storytelling that celebrates valor, memory, and the enduring human spirit.

11:00 a.m. – “Excelsior: Forever Upward”

A moving tribute to a World War II combat veteran whose story intertwines love, loss, and the enduring symbol of his first car — a 1939 Ford Fordor. This film is a reflection on service, resilience, and the timeless drive to move forward.

11:30 a.m. – “Gino Merli: The Healing Hero”

The story of Gino Merli, a decorated hero of the Battle of the Bulge (1944), whose acts of bravery inspired generations. His legacy lives on through the Gino Merli Veterans Center in Scranton, Pennsylvania, a place of healing for those who served.

1:00 p.m. – “Valor & Memory”

This documentary shines a light on the Flying Tigers, the American military pilots who fought alongside Chinese forces during World War II. Their story is a powerful testament to international friendship, courage, and sacrifice.

2:00 p.m. – “10 Vietnam Vets”

A deeply personal film following ten Vietnam veterans as they return home from war, confronting the emotional and physical scars of service. Their stories reveal the lifelong struggles and triumphs of those who fought in one of America’s most complex conflicts.

3:00 p.m. – Premiere – “Canada Remembers Our Heroes: Brothers & Borders”

In its TUTV premiere, this compelling documentary explores how the stories of Canadian and American veterans are forever intertwined. It’s a poignant reminder that the bonds of brotherhood transcend borders.

5:00 p.m. – Premiere – “33 Black Frog”

TUTV proudly debuts this brand-new documentary honoring Eddie Ferguson, an African American trailblazer who broke racial barriers in the 1950s to join the Navy’s elite Underwater Demolition Team — the predecessor to the Navy SEALs. His story is one of perseverance, pride, and purpose.
