TUTV is turning up the volume and shining the spotlight on music, culture, and Philly pride this 4th of July. From indie film to deep blues, local parades to legendary artists, the lineup is packed with stories and sounds worth tuning in for. Here’s what’s playing:

10:00 AM – Tête-à-Tête

A 2011 indie film set during the colonial period, created and produced by a Temple Film & Media alum. Historical storytelling with a creative twist—straight from Temple talent.

12:00 PM – Garden Thyme

GThyme July

The cameras head to Limington to catch a slice of small-town Americana with the annual 4th of July parade: community vibes, red-white-and-blue spirit, and all the charm.

12:30 PM – The Essential Songs of Philadelphia

Ess. Songs Philly

A throwback to the Philly 80s music scene featuring The Hooters’ David Uosikkinen and his project “In The Pocket.” The series revisits classic songs tied to the city, bringing together local legends and fresh takes.

1:00 PM – 4 Shades of Blues

Live performances from four distinct blues powerhouses. From Koko Taylor’s gritty Chicago sound to Ruthie Foster’s gospel-acoustic style, Tommy Castro’s funk-infused rhythm, and Ana Popovic’s jazz-blues fusion, this one hits every note.

2:00 PM – Jook Joint

Jook Joint - Bobbie Blues Band

A celebration of blues and traditional African American genres with community-focused vibes and a mission to uplift the culture. It’s about connection, rhythm, and keeping roots alive.

3:30 PM – A Conversation with Questlove

Conversation With Questlove

A sit-down with Oscar and Grammy-winning artist Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson. Moderated by Temple’s Dean David Boardman, this student-led conversation dives into creativity, career, and culture with one of Philly’s most influential artists.

4:30 PM – Bluegrass Journey

Bluegrass Journey

A documentary deep dive into the bluegrass scene. Featuring performances and interviews with top-tier artists like the Del McCoury Band, Nickel Creek, and more. It’s both a history lesson and a jam session.
