The UpTick

The UpTick Pilot B

In this Pilot episode of The UpTick, hosts Emilie Cochrane, Alissa Clausell, and Nathen Mutale explore what’s new and impactful around the Temple and Philadelphia Communities, and examine connections to prominent issues worldwide. First, reporter Liz DeOrnellas goes to the site of the Philadelphia Energy Solutions Refinery Explosion to talk with local activists calling for sustainable redevelopment. Later, Michala Butler outlines support systems and resources for people in the LGBTQ+ community who struggle with being “Home For The Holidays.” Finally, Alissa Clausell and Nathen Mutale sit down with Dr. Hawthorne Smith and Dr. Adeyinka Akinsulure-Smith of The Bellvue Program For Survivors of Torture to discuss Asylum Seekers and their mission to assist individuals and families subjected to torture and other human rights abuses to rebuild healthy, self-sufficient lives, and to contribute to global efforts to end torture.**

**TRIGGER WARNING** This discussion may involve information or examples that some may find disturbing. The conversation will include a discussion of violence and sexual violence. If these topics are triggering or uncomfortable, please feel free to take a step away and take care of yourself.**
