film noir theaterTUTV is proud to present the new Film Noir Theater, a weekly special presentation of classic movies from the 40s of the film noir genre. Media Studies and Production Professor Amy Caples will host and provide insight into each film and its creator.

We end the series this Friday, April 5 at 2 p.m. & 10 p.m. with Mr Arkadin. Tune into Comcast channel 50 or Verizon channel 45 within the city limits of Philadelphia, or watch it online.

The term film noir encompasses a style and aesthetic of filmmaking that developed in the 30s and 40s characterized by stark black and white imagery, cynical characters, a gritty urban setting, and plots centered on criminal activity. It was notable for tackling darker subjects and continues to be highly influential to contemporary film.
