Temple Athletics is an informative, student-produced program that offers an in-depth exploration of the diverse array of sports played by Temple students. Through engaging interviews with coaches and student-athletes, viewers are treated to an insider's perspective on the challenges and triumphs of competing at a high level in collegiate sports.
Rowing
Temple Rowing athletes Gina Inverso and Moira Meekes join Tommy Sladek and Stephanie Hersch to talk about the sport. Inverso’s achievement of being selected as a CRCA National Scholar-Athlete recipient leads to a discussion of how both athletes manage time for excellence in academics while maintaing their vigilance on the Schuylkill.
The teammates outline their workout routine and how it varies from “rise n’ grind” to a late afternoon practice. Joining the program to shed more light on the rowing program is Head Coach Rebecca Smith Grzybowski. Coach Grzybowski gives an interesting narrative from how she began rowing as a “walk-on” to her rise as a successful rower to her current position.
Going more in depth, she explains how the official roster of the team holds about 50 rowers and that walk-ons are a big part of the culture. She also gives viewers at home a clear understanding of what each rowers’ position is in the sport and what goes into running a successful race.
