Fencing
Tommy Sladek mans the program solo beginning with an interview with two women’s fencing teammates, Alexandra Keft and Demi Antipas. The players inform viewers of their positions on the team and differences between the positions. Antipas recaps a face off with OwlSports Update Dan Marcel, and Keft explains how life back in Las Vegas helped her develop her skill as an épée.
Joining the show later is head coach Nikki Franke. In her conversation with Sladek, she offers the analogy of fencing being a physical game of chess in which players must out-think their opponent and complement that fast paced thought with the proper strenuous maneuvers. Franke expounds on international recruiting as well as local recruiting (including that NJ has the largest number of fencing clubs in public schools). Franke then hops into a figurative time machine with Sladek to offer what her vision of what the end of the season will look like for her team.
