Men’s Crew

Temple Men’s Crew Head Coach Gavin White joins hosts Zahnay Blakney and Kevin Guest to speak about the rowing program. Dr. Williams speaks on his fortitude towards making certain that his athletes put academics at the forefront; mellowing out his coaching style throughout the years, and the workload of coaching a sport year round.

Joining the program are two crew athletes: Stephen Lindeman and Connor Murphy, together they enlighten Guest and Blakney on the average day of a crew member. Lindeman starts off by saying that he has always been told that there are three choices you can pick: “sports life, student life, and personal life”; the catch being that you can only have two of those choices. Murphy expands on this by explaining that rowing is very much a lifestyle; for example, the adverse affect that skipping a week’s worth of practice on performance level can be monumental. They also go on to address the experience of being cut from Temple’s Athletic program only to be reinstated by the help of the city.
