Women’s Track & Field

In the final episode of 2014, Tommy Sladek begins with his quintessential question, “Is this your first time on the program?” His cohost, Stephanie Hirsch, talks to Demeshia Davis and Kirsten LaRoche from Temple’s track & field team. Together they delve into how the team has adjusted and developed with the new coach, plans for post-graduation, the athletes personal goals, and how to balance sports along with their studies.

Later in the program, Track & Field Head Coach Elvis Ford makes his debut with Hirsch and Sladek. Cutting to the chase, Hirsch prompts Ford to talk about his experience with the team as a new coach. Ford explains to the hosts his goals and approach for his first year with the team, citing his affinity for getting to know the local track & field coaching community and helping to lead into a strong east coast recruiting situation. Additionally, Ford goes on to detail his decorated career, specifically competing in the Olympics, and his personal coaching style, which relies on tackling three different areas: emotional, physical, and mental.
