The Landscape Architecture and Horticulture Association began its “brownbag lunch” guest lecture series for Fall 2011 on September 21 with a visit from Mark Focht, Executive Director of the Fairmount Park Commission. Mark Focht is responsible for the day-to-day management of the 9,200 acre, 63 park Fairmount Park system. He additionally serves as the Vice President of Communications for the American Society of Landscape Architects and has been an adjunct professor for Temple’s Department of Landscape Architecture and Horticulture. During the September 21 lecture, he discussed Philadelphia’s revolutionary “Green 2015” plan, which aims to add 500 acres of publicly-accessible green space to the city over the next four years.
