For over 100 years, coffee has been fundamental to the economy of Nicaragua. But the wars of the late 1970s and throughout the 1980s, all but destroyed the country’s reputation as a premier producer of quality beans. In The Price of Coffee, Nicaraguans strive to achieve their former place in the hierarchy of coffee producers.
