The Diamond Screen Film Festival, which showcases some of the best work by up-and-coming filmmakers in Temple University’s Film and Media Arts program, selects winners from more than 150 entries by a panel of judges made up of Temple alumni and noted names in the industry. This year’s judges include Lisa Cortes, the executive producer of the Oscar-winning film, Precious, the acclaimed writer and director Jenny Deller, the award winning Philadelphia filmmaker Michael Schweisheimer, and other highly visible talents in the field. Awards include the Benjamin Lazaroff Memorial Scholarship Fund for undergraduate and graduate FMA students who show excellence in screenwriting, and the Beatrice Deglin Leder Graduate Student Film and Video Production Award Fund, presented to an outstanding FMA graduate student. The festival is supported by Temple University School of Communications and Theater, Sony Creative Software, Focal Press, and Cisco Systems.

The event will take place at The Reel Student Cinema located at 1755 North 13th Street on the Lower Level of Temple’s Student Center on May 6th and 7th. The Awards Ceremony will be held May 7 from 9:15-10:15 pm at the Underground, also located on the lower level of the Student Center.
