Ray Davies founded The Kinks with his brother Dave in 1964, becoming the band’s lead singer and guitarist. Their international breakthrough came a year later with “You Really Got Me”. The song reached No. 1 in the UK and No. 7 in the USA. Following the Kink’s last concert in 1996, Ray Davies concentrated on his solo career, releasing several studio albums. Davies started with his semi-fictional 1995 memoir, X-Ray. He supported the book with a series of concerts subtitled Storyteller, where he played classic Kinks songs, read from the book, told stories, and showcased new songs.
